Yeah Yeah Yeahs – It’s Blitz!

I’ve been hearing tons of buzz and press about It’s Blitz!, the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and I’ll just throw my thoughts into the mix. It is good. It’s different than what they’ve done in the past in that the guitar has largely (but not completely) been replaced by the keyboard, there’s less gloom and doom, and it is dipping into downright danceable territory.
After the usual sophomore slump and interpersonal problems, the YYYs seem to have gotten it together, both musically and personally. It’s Blitz! is tight and fun and interesting, maintaining all the energy the Yeah Yeah Yeahs bring, but injecting a shot of fresh and funky to realign this band with their deserved frequency of greatness.
