Saddest Christmas Song Ever

I’ll Be Home For Christmas
The idea of getting home by Christmas was introduced during World War I as the soldiers thought the war would be over quickly. It wasn’t.
Bing Crosby scored a World War II era mega-hit and created an instant holiday classic with his version of the song in 1943.
It was the most requested song at U.S.O shows and according to GI magazine “Crosby accomplished more for military morale than anyone else of that era.”
There was some copyright drama around the song and a dispute about who actually wrote it.
In December of 1965, having completed the first U.S. space rendezvous and set a record for the longest flight in the U.S. space program, astronauts were asked if they wanted any particular music piped up to them. The crew requested Bing Crosby’s recording of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”
