If you lived through the Riot Grrrl wave, you already know that it was a time of epic transformation for women. We were screaming for liberation, shattering the windows of the gender museum and telling our deepest secrets. It was neither polite nor academic; it was rough and raw and awesome.
One of the leaders of the movement, Kathleen Hanna (of Bikini Kill, Le Tigre and a bunch of other cool projects) has donated a collection of her personal Riot Grrrl papers including zines, letters and music-related stuff to NYU’s Fales Library for their brand new Riot Grrrl Collection.
Nice move Kathleen. I really want to see what’s in those papers. And by the way, thanks for an amazing time.
