The Album Leaf: There Is a Wind

Posted on | April 12, 2010 | No Comments

The other night I put on a record I hadn’t heard before by a group called the Album Leaf. Glad to be home—out of the rain, and away from the madness of the world—I sat down to give the album, entitled A Chorus of Storytellers, a proper listen.

When it came time to flip the record, I thought to myself, This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. A bit of an overshot perhaps, considering the abundance of beautiful things in this world, but I was truly swept away by the beauty of the music; lulled into some transcendental state between here and there, swimming along with the Album Leaf sound.

I’m now on the hunt for their older albums, as they are, apparently, even better than this new one.

Here is the Album Leaf playing one of my new favorite songs, “There Is a Wind,” live at KEXP in Seattle.
